Looking to know more about the Parks and Recreation Emerging Professionals Program (PREPP)?
The Parks and Recreation Emerging Professionals Program is a unique program through the University of Colorado-Denver, for people who want to move ahead into upper levels of supervision and administration, need an education in management and planning, and are interested in a flexible, yet rigorous, program developed for working professionals.
The online program includes live class time (on Zoom) as well as an online course system for ongoing learning and study. Participants complete 12 courses over 15 months – for a total of 180 hours of class time. Each set of 3 courses ends in a student portfolio, and the final series is capped with a self-directed project that incorporates the learning across the entire program. Participants will be grouped into cohorts starting in January 2022.

Episode 18: Changing Law Enforcement Perception through Recreation
Partnering with police departments gives park and recreation agencies the power to help change the perception of law enforcement within the communities. Listen to Officer Adam Mentor and Sergeant Jason Newton from the Colorado Springs Police Department, as well as well Police Chief Darryl McSwain of Montgomery County Parks, share their personal experiences and ways they connect with the community through recreation. She discusses the importance of connecting to nature and how to incorporate nature connection into our everyday lives. She explains the practice of forest bathing, awakening senses, being mindful, and daily practices that integrate nature connection into a mostly urban, digital world.

Parks and Recreation agencies are partnering with libraries now more than ever.
