South Bend, Indiana Parks & Recreation teamed with GP RED to conduct the second national SMT project.

A Warrant for Action was developed focusing on youth ages 10-14 living in South Bend, Indiana, along with the Active Youth Initiative, a coalition of youth service providers. The purpose of the Active Youth Initiative (AYI) is to increase the physical activity, healthy nutrition habits, and social engagement of youth ages 10-14 in the City of South Bend.

Mapping of assets and affordances throughout South Bend evaluated public facilities and lands that are available for healthy recreation and/or active use by the target age group and actions that an individual can potentially perform in his/ her environment.
